Adwords Keyword : Mastering Adwords Google & PPC

Adwords Keyword Madness

There is absolutely no doubt that PPC is one of the toughest marketing games in the internet business. More money is lost every day with this marketing method than virtually anything online marketing system. So what makes pay per click advertising so difficult?

Well with Google I can tell it is finding the right Adwords Keyword. Keywords in PPC advertising are an absolutely essential element to getting the "right" kind of traffic to your site – That is traffic that will actually make a purchase, sign up for your email list or take some other kind of desired action – Everything comes down to targeting the keywords that your target demographic is actually searching for. There are actually a lot of different schools of thought on how to go about choosing your Adwords Keyword. Some people will tell you to only target exact and phrase matches and completely ignore broad matches – despite the fact that you will get more impressions with broad matches.

The logic behind this is simple. When choosing a Adwords Keyword you want to filter out the tire kickers, window shoppers, the randomly curious, and all sorts of other people who really have no intention of making a purchase. Because broad match targets everyone who enters in a given term regardless of the order of words or context of the search it brings in A LOT of unqualified prospects (aka people who will click on your ad because they are curious about, cost you some money, and then hit the back button 10 seconds later).

When you choose Adwords Keywords that are more focused you are much more likely to bring in people who are genuinely looking for a given product. However, you should never absolutely discount the idea of bidding on broad match terms, you just need to be more careful for them when you are planning your bidding strategy. Whenever I start a new PPC marketing campaign I bid on all three match types. Why? Because even though I suspect that the broad match terms will not be winners, the only way I can know this is to actually test it – I have been surprised many times to find that I make sales on broad match terms that I never expected to.

My general rule of thumb for a broad match Adwords Keyword is to allow it at least 200 clicks to determine if it is viable, if the term has not brought me any sales after that many clicks it is safe to assume that it will just become a money pit. I also bid 20% - 30% lower on broad match terms than I do on the other two Adwords Keyword match types. This is because a broad match terms is less targeted making it a lower value keyword (of course if the term starts making me some serious sales I will consider upping my bid.)

Just remember when choosing your Adwords Keyword the most important thing you can do is test, test and test again. Always track your results and make informed decisions based upon that data – never upon your gut instincts.

Want to know what makes internet marketing through PPC so wonderful? Speed, speed, speed! It takes absolutely no time to start generating traffic and seeing results. For people like me who do not want to wait around forever to see if a test campaign will bear any fruit this is wonderful! The other methods of generating traffic are fine, but they just take too long for my tastes. I want to see results right away … This does not mean that I avoid work, quite the contrary I will work myself into the ground to get a new campaign up and running … but I want to see results within a couple of days.

Adwords Google will give you those results at lightning speeds (although you may not always like the results that you get). SEO is great, but it takes far longer the PPC marketing. PPC can make you an overnight success if you take the time to study the system and really know what you are doing. You see it solves the primary issue that online entrepreneurs face … getting people to visit their websites! Adwords Google will get customers in front of your message faster than any other single traffic generating method available to those of us in the Internet Marketing field. Why?

Because we have complete control over the campaign – from the keywords, to the landing page, to the pitch … it is in our complete control from beginning to end. We set the budget, we choose what we want to pay per click, we choose how fast our ads will be displayed … basically we have control over everything. This control means that if we take the time to study our niche we can learn exactly what keywords they are searching on and structure our ads to sing to them in a way that will have the clicks come pouring in.

Of course simply getting clicks does not in any way imply that you will be making money, or getting opt-in subscribers, etc … it simply means that you will have the opportunity to pitch your message to a whole lot of prospects ... closing on those prospects is entirely up to you and has nothing to do with Adwords Google. It is up to us to make sure that our ads resonate with our niche. If our ad speaks to them they will click on it. If our landing page gives them the clues to solving their problems we may be able to close a sale.
So how do we do all this? First I want you to ask yourself these questions: Who is in your niche, what do they want, and how can you help them? Those questions are the key to your success … if you can answer them successfully then you will know EXACTLY what you need to say in your ads and on your landing page to start racking in those conversions … Remember as an internet marketer your primary goal is to fulfill the needs of your prospects in some capacity.
